A few days ago, a guy from Germany asked me via YouTube about a transcription on this web site. I was kind of floored by it, but not as much as when a thrash metal fan from Italy put several of the D.O.R. songs on this site on YouTube as a new fan of this 90s high school band. Most of us old band members even got on and commented. Fun stuff.

I'm really excited to be doing something I've been meaning to do for a long time, sharing some of my videos and music performances. It's taken a while for all the pieces to line up including getting a video camera that does decent audio, starting to perform, etc. I hope you enjoy these. They're great feedback and learning for me, and I hope they're a fun way to share the music I love with you. The Videos page has a nice YouTube player with all of the videos on my channel.

In anticipation of having a few things up here that folks might want to talk about, I added a contact page. I enabled CAPTCHA to prevent bots and stuff, but hopefully it's not so annoying as to prevent people from contacting me.

My goal of having automatically updated content is partially there. I have the now-playing plug-in fully working and sending what I listen to at home and work to the site and Facebook in real-time. I've also added the weRead widget which displays my bookshelf and is also linked with Facebook.

I'm not 100% sure why I like this stuff. I just think that you can learn a fair amount about somebody, including their current state of mind and being, by what they listen to and read. So, there ya go- what I'm listening to, reading, and some of what I've read. If you find it of interest, I'm glad.

It's been quite a while since I've update this site. If you've come across it and wondered what the heck is going on, the answer is Facebook. Most of what I was trying to do with my personal web can be done better with Facebook. I really wanted a site to share some music, photos, etc. with my friends, family, and others that are curious. But as far as those elements are concerned, Facebook does a great job of that and more, and I don't have to create it myself. So, the question is, what value does a personal web presence provide that a site like Facebook can't. I find MySpace to be kind of a mess, so I'm not really considering that as competition to either.

I'm really feeling like a personal site should include elements that I want to expose and share more publicly, especially permanent ones like the D.O.R. page. Or if there is something immediate (like "what you're listening to"), it must be able to be fed to the site automatically so I don't have to update it. What would also be cool is that if I want to share an article or some kind of story that it might persist in multiple places.

I'm basically just thinking out loud, and it's time to get started on updates!

Added a photo gallery and threw some pics up. The ultimate goal is to get Rachel's art portfolio started, but this will get 'er done for a little while. See ultra-cute pictures in the gallery. I need to do some tweaking to the gallery module cuz it's a little lame out of the box.
